People: Furse leaves BoE FPC; Bank Negara appoints sharia advisors
UK: Clara Furse has stepped down as an external member of the Bank of England's financial policy committee, leaving Minouche Shafik as the only female member of the 12-strong body.
A former chief executive of the London Stock Exchange, Furse will be leaving the central bank to join HSBC's commercial arm – HSBC UK – which is being ring-fenced from the bank's other operations.
Governor Mark Carney thanked Furse for her contribution as a founding member of the committee, which was formed in 2013.
