Chile’s Vergara to pass torch to Marcel
Chilean president Michelle Bachelet and treasury minister Rodrigo Valdes have appointed Mario Marcel as the new governor of the Central Bank of Chile, effective on December 11.
"I am sure Mario will maintain the tradition of technical excellence at the Central Bank of Chile," said Bachelet on October 25.
In Chile, newcomers to the central bank's board must be ratified by the senate, but the appointment is made by the president. It is likely, therefore, that Marcel will take over from current
