IMF financing ‘constrained’ policy space in Ukraine, report finds
Earlier debt financing would have been useful for Ukraine, report says
The International Monetary Fund has admitted the financing package provided to Ukraine in 2014 "constrained" policy space to "some extent", as the authorities struggled with programme objectives.
In its latest evaluation of exceptional access under the 2014 stand-by arrangement (SBA), the fund noted that in hindsight, an earlier debt operation would have helped the country in meeting the objectives set out by the IMF.
