Latvian central bank becomes lead authority on counterfeiting
Bank has taken over key functions from Latvian state police
Latvia's central bank has become the country's "one stop agency" for dealing with counterfeit money, it said in an official announcement, taking over key functions from the Latvian state police.
The Bank of Latvia announced that effective from July 1, it had exercised responsibility for examining suspected counterfeit money in all currencies. Previously, it was only responsible for examining suspected fake euros, the bank said.
