EBA prepares to toughen European payments regulation

The European Banking Authority (EBA) is preparing to develop requirements that will toughen and harmonise payments regulation across Europe, it said today (May 22).

The organisation also released a list of the national supervisory authorities that have complied with its guidelines establishing minimum standards for the security of online payments – and those that have not. Six supervisors have failed to implement the guidelines in full, versus 24 that have.
