BIS charts ‘boundaries of the unthinkable’ as risks rise

Extraordinary conditions continue to prevail in global financial markets and some jurisdictions may be heading for a banking crisis, the Bank for International Settlements (BIS) warned today.

Briefing journalists ahead of today's release of the BIS's Quarterly Review, Claudio Borio, who heads its monetary and economic department, said bond markets have continued to show "the boundaries of the unthinkable are exceptionally elastic".
