BlackRock chairman warns Carney over low rate environment
Carney, Nouy and Weidmann in panel debate on financial intermediation
BlackRock chairman Laurence Fink today criticised the low interest rate regimes in place at the major central banks, as he warned a panel of senior policy-makers that private institutions could "refuse to lend" if rates remain depressed.
The prediction was rebutted by Bank of England governor Mark Carney, who countered: "I don't believe you", before adding the two probably agreed "more than it may seem".
The panel was chaired by Bundesbank president Jens Weidmann, and also featured contributions
