Central Bank of Iraq updates 5,000 and 25,000 dinar banknotes

Notes contain ‘animated effects’ and features for the visually impaired

The Central Bank of Iraq announced yesterday the release of new 5,000 and 25,000 denominated banknotes, which include more security features than their predecessors.

The current 5,000 and 25,000 dinar notes will continue to circulate in the market with the new ones, and the central bank has no "intention for their withdrawal".

The new 5,000 dinar banknote retains the dominant features of its predecessor, including an "animated effect" that means one corner of the note changes colour from green
