UK government rules out 'sterling zone' with independent Scotland

The UK chancellor of the exchequer George Osborne today told Scotland that leaving the UK would mean leaving the UK's currency behind, as commentators expressed scepticism that there are any other viable alternatives available should Scotland vote for independence in its referendum this September.
