ECB holds rates but leaves new LTRO on the table


The governing council of the European Central Bank (ECB) decided to keep rates steady at a meeting held at the Banque de France today in Paris, but ECB president Mario Draghi said some governors suggested a further cut in interest rates to shore up economic recovery in the eurozone.

The visit to the French capital was the governing council's first since Draghi has been at the helm, and the press conference following the meeting threw up more questions than usual about the proper level of the euro
