Euroclear’s Wicks named as new BBA chairman

The embattled British Bankers' Association, whose reputation has suffered due to the scandal linked to the rigging of its benchmark Libor rate, received endorsements from senior European and UK regulators for its appointment of Nigel Wicks as its new chairman.

Wicks, chairman of Euroclear, was one of the so-called ‘wise men' on the EU committee on European Securities Regulation (the Lamfalussy group) from 2000 to 2001, and has worked in the British civil service for 32 years. From 1989 to 2000
