Kim succeeds Shirakawa as chairman of BIS Asia council

The Bank for International Settlements (BIS) has said Choongsoo Kim, governor of the Bank of Korea, will succeed Masaaki Shirakawa, governor of the Bank of Japan, as chairman of its Asian Consultative Council (ACC). Kim will take on the role for two years from October 2012.

Previous chairmen of the ACC include YV Reddy, governor of the Reserve Bank of India (2007–09); Zhou Xiaochuan, governor of the People's Bank of China (2005–07); Joseph Yam, chief executive of the Hong Kong Monetary Authority
