Malawian governor unapologetic for reform pain

The governor of the Reserve Bank of Malawi on July 20 delivered an unforgiving speech saying the country had to pay the price for past policy mistakes in necessary reforms.

Praising the "bold" measures taken by the new president Joyce Banda, "to correct longstanding macroeconomic imbalances and to set the stage for an economic recovery in the months ahead", he said the country was not alone in experiencing pain.
