People’s Bank of China promotes assistant governor

Li Dongrong was promoted from assistant governor to deputy governor in July, according to his biographical statement posted on the People's Bank of China (PBoC) website.

The career central banker joined the PBoC in 1984 becoming vice-president of the Guangzhou Branch of the central bank. In March 2002 he was made deputy administrator of the State Administration of Foreign Exchange, the agency responsible for managing China's massive currency and gold reserves. He was then appointed assistant
