ECB relaxes collateral eligibility rules


The European Central Bank (ECB) today (June 22) announced further alterations to its collateral eligibility rules in a move that will particularly assist ailing Spanish banks.

"The governing council of the ECB [has] decided on additional measures to improve the access of the banking sector to Eurosystem operations in order to further support the provision of credit to households and non-financial corporations," said the ECB.
