New Bank of Spain governor named

Luis María Linde, a member of the Bank of Spain's governing council, will take over as governor when Miguel Angel Fernandez Ordoñez leaves office on June 10, Spain's finance minister, Luis de Guindos, told parliament on June 7.

According to the central bank, Linde will be formally appointed by the King of Spain today (June 8) following the government's proposal. "And he will take charge on Monday," a Bank of Spain spokesperson told CentralBanking.com.
