BoE minutes reveal ‘finely balanced’ decision on QE in UK


The Bank of England today (May 23) released the minutes from the Monetary Policy Committee's (MPC) meeting earlier this month, which showed the decision not to boost quantitative easing (QE) had been "finely balanced" for "several" members.

"The Committee noted that the existing stock of past purchases, together with the low level of Bank Rate, would continue to impart a substantial monetary stimulus to the economy for some time to come," said the minutes. Nevertheless, it was clear extensive
