Pakistan’s Anwar calls for development of corporate bond markets

Yaseen Anwar, the governor of the State Bank of Pakistan on March 5 urged the development of corporate debt markets in the country.

The governor spoke of the importance of the markets "as a source of long-term financing; providing competition to the banking sector; and enhancing financial stability". He therefore lamented the fact that the size of the listed corporate debt market in Pakistan stands at less than 1% of GDP.
