European Commission to propose regulation on CSDs


The European Commission has announced it will propose regulations on central securities depositories (CSDs) on March 7, 2012.

The Commission said the main objectives of the legislative proposal were: to improve the safety of settlements, especially for cross-border transactions, by ensuring buyers and sellers receive their securities and money on time and with reduced risk; to enhance the efficiency of settlements, in particular for cross-border transactions, by introducing a true internal
