Brazil deputy governor positive about economic future

Aldo Mendes, deputy governor, monetary policy at the Central Bank of Brazil, on February 9 reassured investors that Brazil was well prepared to face global economic "deterioration".

Speaking at the BEST Brazil event in London, Mendes spoke passionately about the situation in his country. With international reserves at an all-time high, unemployment at a "historical low" of below 6% and with a "sound" banking system, the deputy governor said Brazil was well placed to ride out the global financial
