Hildebrand defiant over currency trade row

The governor of the Swiss National Bank (SNB), Philipp Hildebrand, today answered questions about the currency trades carried out by his wife around the time the limit on the Swiss franc value was introduced.

A tired-looking Hildebrand faced a packed room as he proclaimed his innocence of any "legal breaches" and said he would not resign as long as he had the support of the government and the SNB's bank council. Both these bodies have already investigated the matter and cleared him of any
