
Iran deputy governor remains in custody

Hamid Pourmohammadi, a deputy governor of the Central Bank of the Islamic Republic of Iran, is still being held by authorities investigating a large banking fraud scandal in the country.
As the head of the banking supervision department at the central bank, Pourmohammadi was taken in for questioning last month to explain why the discrepancies were not uncovered sooner. More than 30 other people have been arrested in connection with the case.
