State Bank of Pakistan’s acting head stays on as governor

Yaseen Anwar, acting governor of the State Bank of Pakistan, will retain his position as head of the central bank, after Pakistan's government confirmed his appointment on Wednesday.

Newswire Bloomberg reported a spokesman for Pakistan's prime minister, Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani, as saying Anwar's appointment had been finalised.

Anwar is the third governor at the central bank in 17 months, having twice served as acting governor, following the departure of Syed Salim Raza on June 2, 2010, and again
