Canada banking regulator hires central bank official

Mark Zelmer was on Wednesday appointed as the assistant superintendent of the regulation sector at the Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions (Osfi) in Canada.

His new job will commence on December 1, 2011. The Osfi's regulation sector covers areas such as legislation and approvals, capital, accounting, research, actuarial and legal services.

Zelmer has held numerous roles at the Bank of Canada since he joined in 1985. Most recently he was chief of the financial stability
