Queen knights King
Mervyn King, the Bank of England governor, has been awarded a knighthood by the Queen in her birthday honours list, announced on Saturday.
"I am honoured to receive this award," said King. "It is a tribute to the hard work and professionalism of the Bank of England staff, whom it has been my privilege to lead for 8 years."
Industry and the economy representatives received 13.4% of the awards given, including King's Knight Grand Cross, the higher of the two knighthood awards.
