SNB counters IMF call for rate hike

The Swiss National Bank (SNB) on Wednesday countered recent comments by the International Monetary Fund calling for the central bank to raise interest rates.

In conclusions of its Article IV consultation of Switzerland, published on Monday, the IMF said the country was "experiencing a strong expansion" and, absent significant shocks, the central bank "should be in a position to raise interest rates in the near term".
