PBoC to lend to drought-wracked agricultural sector
Du Jinfu, a deputy governor of the People's Bank of China (PBoC), has said the central bank will use monetary policy tools to provide drought relief to the country's agricultural sector.
The PBoC said on Wednesday that Du had made the commitment in a recent conference with the State Council, Beijing's administrative organ. "The [central bank] attaches great importance to delivering financial support in view of the spring drought," and would take a number of measures to this end, Du said.
