Sri Lanka launches new banknote series
The Central Bank of Sri Lanka unveiled a new banknote series on Friday with improved security features, the first new series to enter mass circulation in 20 years.
The banknote series, the 11th since the central bank was founded and the first in circulation since 1991, consists of six denominations, a SLRs20, SLRs50, SLRs100, SLRs150, SLRs1000 and a new SLRs5000 ($45.11) note. The central bank said the notes, which enter circulation on Monday, also contained several new advanced security
