QE3 possible if conditions warrant it, says Bernanke

The Federal Reserve could expand its Treasury bill buying programme if the programme is successful in its aim of alleviating unemployment and economic conditions are suitable, Ben Bernanke, the chairman of the central bank, said Sunday.

Asked in an interview with CBS, a broadcaster, if the Fed could commit more than the $600 billion it already has to Treasury bill purchases, Bernanke said: "It's certainly possible... it depends on the efficacy of this programme. It depends on inflation. And
