Øystein Olsen, the managing director of Norway's national statistics body, will take over as governor of the Norges Bank from next year.
"With Øystein Olsen as governor, we will have a skilful leader at the central bank," Sigbjørn Johnsen, Norway's finance minister, said on Friday. "He is a knowledgeable economist and I am confident he will do a good job."
Olsen will take over in January. The term of Svein Gjedrem, the current governor, expires on 31 December. Gjedrem has served as governor for
