BoE expands discount window collateral list

The Bank of England will now accept loans to individuals and businesses as eligible collateral at its discount window in a bid to provide better access to liquidity in times of financial market stress.

On Monday, the Bank said it would expand the criteria for eligible collateral at its discount window facility to include portfolio loans of individuals and non banks. The Bank will now accept residential mortgages, consumer loans (excluding credit cards), commercial real estate loans and corporate
