Missed mortgage payments spike in Ireland

The number of mortgage payments in Ireland overdue by at least three months rose by 13% for the first quarter of 2010, data published on Thursday by the country's regulator showed.

At the end of March, more than 4% of mortgage accounts, worth €6.1 billion ($7.4 billion), were in arrears for more than 90 days, and 2.76% of all mortgage accounts, worth €4.1 billion, were more than 180 days in arrears.
