Trichet keeps open mind on European Fund

The European Central Bank (ECB) has not rejected the plan for a continental monetary fund, an idea under discussion between the French and German finance ministries, Jean-Claude Trichet, its president, said on Wednesday.

Trichet told reporters at the launch of a euro exhibition in Frankfurt that more information was needed before he and the ECB took a firmer stand on the issue. At the press conference following the announcement of the central bank's rate decision last Thursday, Trichet noted
