Bulgaria joins Europe’s Target2


The Bulgarian National Bank and Bulgarian banks became full members of Target2 on 1 February.

"This is a significant step towards Bulgaria's integration into the European financial market and payment infrastructures made possible following the successful fulfilment of the activities under the integration project," the central bank said.

Bulgaria's membership brings the number of participating central banks to 23. Of these, six, including Bulgaria, are not members of the euro.
