RBI hints at tightening ahead of policy meet

The Reserve Bank of India has said inflation has emerged as "a major concern" in recent months a day before it is due to set rates.

The Reserve Bank is set to vote on interest rates on Friday and on Thursday in its quarterly statement on macroeconomic and monetary developments warned that high headline inflation risked "getting transmitted over time to other non-food items though expectations-driven wage price revisions, magnifying a general inflation."

WPI headline inflation in December was 7.3
