Architects of euro point to “unfinished business”

At a star-studded event held in Paris on 19 November, the founders of the euro celebrated its 10th birthday. Informally chaired by Edmond Alphandery, France's economics minister during the mid 1990s, the Big Three of French finance were on hand - Jacques Delors,the president of the European Commission (EC) from 1985 to 1995 and chair of the Delors Committee that planned the euro; Jacques de Larosière, former head of the International Monetary Fund and of the Banque de France, and Jean-Claude
