Zim finance minister looks to cut central bank authority
Tendai Biti, Zimbabwe's finance minister, presented a bill to the country's House of Assembly on Wednesday that seeks to narrow the remit of Gideon Gono, the governor of the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe, and remove some of the central bank's powers.
A memorandum accompanying the bill states that the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe Act will be amended "principally to bring the powers of the governor of the Reserve Bank under control of the Bank's Board, to clarify the functions of the Bank, and to require
