Harmonised card schemes crucial for Sepa success: Tumpel-Gugerell

Harmonised European card schemes are still the missing piece in the Single European Payments Area (Sepa) puzzle, said Gertrude Tumpel-Gugerell, a member of the European Central Bank's (ECB) executive board, on Wednesday.

Harmonised business rules, technical standards and one or more additional card schemes in place at the European level were needed to bring forward Sepa for cards, said Tumpel-Gugerell.
