Iskrov quits – for now
Iskrov, who was first appointed in October 2003, handed in his resignation to the Bulgarian parliament on Thursday after the ruling party complained his reappointment for a second term in May was illegal.
Bulgaria's Socialist-led government, who lost a July election to the centre-right GERB party, appointed the governor to a second six-year term in May. The Socialists also named Nikolai Nenovski as deputy governor at the time.
