BoE’s Haldane outlines views on capital rules


Andrew Haldane, the executive director for financial stability at the Bank of England, on Thursday outlined his thinking on new approaches to setting minimum capital standards for large financial institutions.

Haldane started his talk, given at a conference on regulation at the London School of Economics, by suggesting that regulators and central bankers had committed two grave errors with regards to capital requirements for banks.
