RBZ To announce new monetary policy measures

The Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe (RBZ) governor, Leonard Tsumba, is expected to announce new monetary policy measures for the year 2001 by the end of this month, a central bank spokesman said this week.

The measures would complement the year 2001 budget presented by the finance minister Simba Makoni on November 16. Market sources said they expected the central bank, which controls the country's financial levers, to depart from its current policy linking interest rates with the rate of inflation.The
