Russia likely to float rouble within three years

The Russian central bank and the finance ministry have signalled that the government will allow the rouble to float freely within the next three years, the Interfax news agency reported.

Russian central bank deputy chairman Alexei Ulyukayev said the bank saw Russia floating the rouble within the next two to three years.

Ulyukayev told Interfax the central bank was minimising its intervention in the currency market to try to limit the strengthening of the rouble against other currencies.
