Ex-Fed chairman Volcker to get honorary degree

Paul Volcker, who headed the Federal Reserve from 1979 to 1987, will receive an honorary degree at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute's commencement on Saturday 21 May.

Volcker was also a former president of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York and served for close to 30 years in federal government under five presidents from John F. Kennedy to Ronald Reagan.

U.S. Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton will be RPI's commencement speaker on 21 May.
