EU single payments area plan in doubt

European Union lawmakers said Wednesday 15 November that plans for a single payments area in Europe could hit the buffers unless governments reach a deal soon.

"The difficulty is the council of ministers (of EU countries) cannot reach agreement on the text. It seems there is a kind of blockage there with the different positions," Jean Paul Gauzes, a French centre-right lawmaker, told reporters.
