Commercial banker made dep chairman of Kazakh cb

KAZAKHSTAN - A new deputy chairman has been appointed to the National Bank of Kazakhstan. Anvar Saydenov, who is 41, was appointed by Kazakhstan's president, Nursultan Nazarbayev, on the recommendation of the central bank.

His duties will begin on June 10 and he will be responsible for banking and insurance control, as well as coordinating the securities market and the activities of pension funds. He was previously chairman of the board of directors of the People's Bank of Kazakhstan.
