Bundesbank comments annoy German officials

The German government expressed annoyance at the Bundesbank on Thursday 21 October following a press report which suggested the German central bank was sceptical about Berlin's growth forecast for next year.

In its Thursday edition, the Financial Times Deutschland had quoted unnamed sources as saying the Bundesbank was expecting the German economy to grow by just 1.5 per cent in 2005, slower than the growth rate of 1.7-1.8pc reportedly being targeted by the government. Economy Minister Wolfgan
