Manila's Arroyo not pushing for currency control

PHILIPPINES - Philippine President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo said on 9 August she was not pushing for currency controls but added: "Never say never."

Arroyo said earlier on 9 August during a visit to Malaysia that it was possible the Philippines might consider imposing capital controls and a fixed exchange rate, though she said it was unlikely.
