Greenspan's surgery successful, says US Fed

Federal Reserve chairman Alan Greenspan has undergone surgery. The Fed said on Tuesday that the operation was successful and he should be back in his office later this week.

Federal Reserve chairman Alan Greenspan's surgery for an enlarged prostate was "routine and successful," the central bank said on Tuesday.

"He will be recuperating in the hospital overnight and expects to be back in his office later this week," the Fed said in a statement.
