Australian inflation lowers rate cut call

AUSTRALIA - Expectations of an interest rate cut have been lowered after the release of surprisingly high inflation figures. The Reserve Bank board is due to meet next week.

ARTICLE - Uncertainty has entered Australian financial markets with the release of higher than expected inflation figures for March. This has lowered expectations that the Reserve Bank will reduce interest rates further in the near future.

Inflation figures for the March CPI rose 1.1 per cent to an annual rate of 6 per cent.
