Chile's central bank rules out forex intervention

The central bank of Chile said Tuesday it would not attempt to slow the appreciation of the peso. Board member Jose de Gregorio told reporters that the Bank intervenes in exceptional cases but we are far from that situation.

Chile's Central Bank said on Tuesday it will not intervene in the foreign exchange market to slow down appreciation of the peso currency, which has gained 11.5 percent against the U.S. dollar this year and hit a 27-month high last week.
